Accessibility
Effective October 27, 2026
We want Virle to be usable with a keyboard, on smaller screens and with assistive technology. These are the features implemented in the game, not a certification of compliance.
- Labeled native controls: Tab moves between controls; arrow keys adjust sliders. Enter locks both guesses.
- An untimed option in practice mode, and a separate Start button for every video. Daily rounds use a 25-second timer.
- Visible focus indicators, a skip link, text labels alongside colored comparison bars, and higher-contrast controls.
- A sound toggle and support for your device’s reduced-motion preference.
- Once a round starts, text titles and creator names remain available with players disabled. Each embedded player has a descriptive title; captions and keyboard controls are provided by YouTube when available.
- Dialogs with accessible names and keyboard dismissal, plus readable standalone policy pages.
Known limitations
Video clues may depend on vision or hearing, and captions or audio descriptions are not available on every selected video. Enter locks guesses when focus is in a guess control; keys inside the YouTube frame belong to YouTube. A full-size player may require vertical scrolling on short mobile screens. Third-party videos and websites have their own accessibility limitations. We have not completed an independent accessibility audit or exhaustive testing with every screen reader, browser and assistive device.
